Hello! I'm Walter Dunsmore! I'm a young independent rock artist from the wonderful Lone Star State. I make my own music, but I'm also the bassist/vocalist for an alt-rock band called "Texas Roadkill". I've always found interest in music since I was young, especially when my father had the aux, and he would play bands like Rush, Journey, Boston and more. I eventually discovered other bands like Yes, Green Day, and Metallica, and then I really got into 90's grunge like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots.Â
I picked up the guitar a little over a year ago, and shortly after taught myself bass, drums and piano. Every since I started I've always enjoyed writing my own songs instead of learning other peoples songs, and that eventually led me to write and release "On My Way". It was a pretty rough, rushed track, but I learned a lot from it. Shortly after that, I released a cover of Nirvana's "Marigold", which was a fun little track to work on. Both of those tracks were definitely more on the calm side, and while I like embracing acoustic guitar songs, I wanted to explore more of what got me into music in the first place, the loud distorted guitars and heavy banging drums of rock music.
I explored that with two of my demos, "Mixtape" and "Hole in the Ground", which you can find on my EP "The Bedroom Demos". Two setbacks I faced while recording those songs was that I don't have the proper gear or the proper skill to record drums that well. By that I mean I only have one mic and I suck at drums. So as I work on my next release, I'm slowly building my own bedroom studio, and practicing my drums, getting closer and closer to the sound I've been chasing since I've started this journey.
